New Zealand Franciscan friar peg doll

Friar Minor
This is an example of the New Zealand vintage peg dolls depicting a Catholic Franciscan preacher religious figure. Attention was paid to detail: the face was hand painted, the Franciscan holds a bible with several pages, necklace with a cross, shoes, undergarments, pedestal covered with green felt. This doll was made circa in the 1970s, face painted in more recent years.

Today, there are three orders of St Francis of Assisi: The Friars Minor,  Secular Franciscans and the Poor Claires (sisters). One of the well-known Capuchin Franciscan's was Padre Pio who lived in Italy. He is also known as Saint Pio of Pietrelcina. On the other side, in New Zealand, the Custody of the Immaculate Conception  Capuchin Foundation was established in 1958. Today they are Secular Franciscans.
However, the Franciscan Minors have been known to be preaching on the streets since the time of their founder St Francis of Assisi. Therefore the Bible in this peg doll's hands identifies the Franciscan Minors. There is no evidence to suggest who made this doll. For example, this doll may have been made by someone who has been at the retreat center run by the Order of Friars Minor of the Holy Spirit Provence in New Zealand. Visitors may have made it when they returned home.

Good bye Milos, memories of you will remain in my heart forever

Pentecost Sunday
Sad news, on the Christmas Eve (European time), Christmas day (New Zealand time) my brother Milos
suddenly died. He has been resuscitated by the Ambulance, then he has been taken to the
hospital, and died soon after. He will be buried on Tuesday 27 December 2016 at 3 p.m.
I live in New Zealand, sadly I will not be able to attend his funeral today.
Milos rang me on Wednesday, less then a week ago, he was happy. Milos and I grew up together,I thought because we grew up together that we could grow old together. God shell wipe all tears from my face. This photo of me and Milos was taken in the churchyard on the Penetecost Sunday.
